...well, kinda stopped opening - it opens only when I pry it open with my fingernail. When I try to open it normally (by pressiing on it), it doesn't open. When I pry it open with my fingers and then push the little plastic tab that is supposed to open the fuel door, the tab seems to work just fine - i.e. when it is in "closed" position and I press it, it goes into the "open" position. Fuel door looks exactly the same as it has always looked and there is no reason to believe that it was damaged in any way at all - inside and out the fuel door looks like new. But still won't open. Minor issue - I can still get to my fuel door and put gas in car by just opening the fuel door with my fingers, but its kinda embarassing...

Its embarrassing. Good thing you are not in NJ, we don't have self-serv option. So, you'd step out of the car and pry it open for the attendant and in front of everyone at the station. ![Laughing](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/imported/laughing.gif)

I never knew some states don't have self-serv options at gas stations.. random things I learn from the almighty 5series.net forums! ![Thumbsup](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/imported/thumbsup.gif)

Dude, I hate it in Jerz where I always have to wait and sh!t... thsoe attendants really take their time - when I go to get gas, I'm in and out in 1/3rd the time it takes the attendants - half the time in Jerz they don't even approach me LOL

UPDATE:
Fixed by replacing part # 3 in the blow-up below:
![](http://www.realoem.com/bmw/diagrams/m/i/216.png)
03 BUFFER STOP WITH EJECTOR 1 51178228939 $10.15
Its a straight swap and requires only that you use a flat-head screwdriver and some common sense not to scratch up/break anything nearby. The part is held in place by two tabs - release them by sliding the flathead through the slots and release the tabs and take out the piece. Slide the new piece in, make sure it clicks into place and you're good to go
