From my experience, there are two reasons for "dings" at startup. First is putting the key in before the door is closed. The second is not buckling-up before turning the key. So, in my experience, you can avoid all "dings" at startup by taking the time to close the door and buckling-up before inserting and turning the key.

Well, that's not true in my case. Even if I make sure the door is shut, buckle up, then count to 10-Mississippi before starting the car, the ding still happens as it waits for me to accept the warning on the I-drive screen. Thanks for the thought, though.
