Your fan doesn't blow as soon as you start your car in the mornings?

tomwid: Only if I leave it on, if I push the off button - "off" lights up - no fan when I get in the next time. My "off" button switches off the automatic climate control - no air, nothing out the vents.

NAS, Then it sounds like your FAN still comes back on even if you shut the whole system down prior to turning off the car, meaning turning off the AC, turning off the FAN but pressing OFF. but the next time you start your car after sleep mode the FAN still turns back on Am I right? not necessarily the AC...

P.S. seperate question than the TOPIC TITLE but related...

Good to know there are those who have strong feeling about this. Please, lets keep this clean. I'm sure we all have strong feeling for the car, I know I do.
As I originally posted, its an 'annoyance' when I turn OFF the AC and the VENT I prefer it to remain as such until I want them ON. The AC I have no problem as it will do as I want, but the VENT, when I want to turn them off completely and leave the car for a long period of time, I want it to be OFF when I come back to the vehicle. It's not doing that. Of course, before the sleep mode, it will remember the OFF when I turn it OFF but when it is left for a long period of time, the VENT automatically turn itself back on when I start the vehicle. Annoying.

What I think we've learned (about the car, that is) is perhaps on the 2006 models we believe the Climate system works as we think it should. Simply come back exactly the way it was when shut down (any configuration or on/off, AC on, recirc, high/low fan - whatever) even after sleep mode. So far we only have one datapoint - NES' June 05 build car.

On the other hand we also know that at least one very "old" (juan2mini words not mine) also works as I described above for NES' car.

The rest of us reporting in on this thread do not get this capability. It would be good to hear from some other folks with build dates in June 05 time frame if they too have it working as above. It has to be tested with car left off until it goes into sleep mode (approximately 10-15 minutes) to be valid.

At the very least I have printed this thread out as additional ammo for my dealer in pursuing this matter to MY satisfaction.

Good luck to those who are trying to get this resolved
