Yes, you're right, it's definitely your tires. Sometimes some tires have a tendency to create "flat spots" when the car stands still. After few kms/miles it gets round again and shaking disappears. During cold weather flat spotting can be more apparent too. What tires you are on? I suggest you change them if you feel this phenomenom too annoying.

This was my issue with my 2007 525i ( all season continental tires ) during cold days. When the car would sit overnight and the next day I would drive off the steering wheel would shake for 10 to 15 min and then it would be all right.

On my 2010 535i recently we just ahd a big snow storm here and some ice and packed snow got wedged into the rims and apparently this also causes steering to shake. I had to stop the car and brush off all snow and ice from the rims and the car drove fine again. The weight of the snow/ice even though it is very small will throw off the balance of the wheel.

I had the same problem with my RFT summer tires when it started to get cold. Now with the snow tires on it went away.

I balance my winter tires & wheels before I mount them. The summer tires * wheels get balanced after winter. Each set of tires get balanced once a year.

well they where off big time again, shakes are very minimal now... almost like its not the wheels that are shaking the car hits alittle bump on the road and it resonates throughout the car.... the car will shake for a second at the same speed and then be smooth only between 65-70.... strange, and believe me its very very very small shake i am just very in tune to these things

I have a shake when I get to around 75mph. I've had all 4 tyres replaced and rebalanced twice now but no difference. Looking for clues on this forum I came accross similar problems which were caused by the "gap" between the wheel centre and the locating ring on the hub.

I'm going to try the solution they recommend in the article below.
