No way im letting them upgrade me to 17 then. Ill ask for a 16.xx upgrade but nothing further.

Note that outside US there are several reports of 16.xx upgrades causing the LED's to stay off.
AFAIK in the US only one 17.xx u/g has reported the LED problem in this board.
Cheers.

maybe ill just tell them to leave it alone. id like the perspective view and 'easier to use' buttons on the nav system tho.
but at the same time the sheer coolness of having the LED's and orange lights above the main light at night cannot be underestimated. Esp if BMW dont have a clue what caused it or what fixes it.
Bet they do the upgrade regadless when it goes in for the 8k miles oil change tho :/

One other possibility is that not all LED controlling modules are equal, and the latest versions (16.xx upwads) don't work well with some of them.
But then the s/w testing team at BMW gets a tumbs down for not doing proper testing on all known hardware revisions on the market.
If that's to much work to do, how can they be sure there are no side effects on more critical modules (fuel injection, steptronic, etc etc)

GOOD point! If they missed this what about other more important modules... forget fuel... I can live with fuel not working but what if brakes or Air Bags dont work??

I can confirm that my orange LEDs stopped working when upgraded to 17.
I have just spoken to my service department who are always most helpful.
They looked this up on the system & confirmed that BMW are aware of this issue, but there is no fix yet. The bullitin advised that they should not to attempt to fix the problem, until they are advised of the resolution details from BMW. Sounds like another software upgrade will be needed!. They advised me to call back in a few weeks, by which time they may know more ( as only a cosmetic problem ).

May be different in the US, but changing out parts may be a waste of time at the moment.

Just got off the phone with them.. he wouldn't return my call's , well he goes we are pretty sure it's our software (no crap) we just tried it on one of our other car's and it did the same thing, and then he went on to say how much time they have put in on my car and want to find out the problem.... I told him in the begining about what this site said about the software and he kept telling me how it was the moduel. He said give him an hour, why can't they just put my car back together and do a PUMA on it and call me when 17.2 is out... They had the car since Thursday and haven't figured it out..
