you are correct. Did not lock car.......but does the same if I do lock it as well.......

O... but I dont wanna go outside and try mine... I know my setting dial is pushed up at its max.. I like my instrument cluster bright and I've never noticed the ambient lighting not turning off in my car...

well, it's all dark in there..... no ambient lights at all. in any position of the dimmer and any position of the headlights.

Well, guess my vehicle is the odd one. I have a neighbor who lives down the street that I know, who also has a 07 530i, and will have him give it a shot as well, to see what kind of results he gets.....

I noticed the same thing on my 04 545i. It took 45 minutes to an hour for the "P" ambient light to go off. Per BMW service advisor, there are about 60 mini computers or controllers in the car. Each one shuts down sequentially and it takes time to complete the shutdown. They have seen it taking from 16 minutes to an hour. Basic model is faster. It takes longer on fully loaded car due to more controllers to shut down. Mine is fully loaded so takes longer.

Interesting information. Does your ambient lighting, or will your ambient lighting stay on all the time, if your "intensity"knob is rolled down? That's what I found out by accident with mine, and was wondering if that was normal, but am finding out from various responses, that it may not be.

I changed the knob from highest to lowerest. But that seems to have no effect on the time. It should be for light "intensity" control only.
