Hi,

I took my 545 in this past Thursday to investigate the poor radio reception/static on AM. I got the following feedback: "Software error in the Car Communication
Computer (CCC) as per service measure B65 212 04 - 09/20/2004. Software
update not available at this time (CCC doesn't program with CIP13.23)."

So their claim was that as of 9/20/04 they identified some software issue affecting radio reception. Does anyone have access or know to more about B65 212 04?

doctorj: Welcome to the forum. Sorry I can't help, I have had my car for a year and never turned on the AM. Someone will find this bulletin for you, they always do.

I think the bulletin has already been posted here. You seem to already have the meat of the information -- there's not much more to say.

Welcome to the world of BMW and the software that runs the cars! ;)

The original serive bulletin for AM/FM radio reception problems was dated April 2004. I've seen this and took it to the dealer. The thing that was new to me was the claim that there is a new service measure (B65 212 0 - 9/20/2004) and there is a software fix!!!

I brought my car in for some very minor fixes - rattles, squeaks, etc., and poor am reception.

I was told by the service department that there isa new TSB on am radio reception, which deals with installing some type of new and improved ground.

I have had the car back for about 18 hrs, and it does seem marginally better.

Iwas also advised that there is a TSB on the cip holder issue. The techs are shown a video on how to modify the cup holder so cups actually sit flat.

2005 cupholders are a new design. I will post a picture when I can get back to it.

They actually fold out towards the driver, making it closer and easier to access.

The spring loaded bottom is new also.

It kinda swings out towards the driver like a quarter-circle.

doctorj, my AM reception was improved with ver 13.3 from 11.3. Invoice note says: Customer states static on radio on AM stations at times
Cause: Software error
0054025 Software update per SIB611403
5435 W

Don't know what all that means, but it worked.

Sounds interesting...I wonder if the 2005 ones will bolt-on to the 2004 cars.

I'd love to see the pics -- I'm interested in what you mean by they now fold out towards the driver. My 2004 cupholder does that now. Does the new one do something different?

if the '05 "improved" ones fit my '04 car, my cupholders will break very soon :wow: .
