For those with US Spec standard stereo (non Logic 7) who experience poor sound quality on AM radio, try this setting with your bass/treble controls - treble minimum setting/bass maximum setting. For some reason this greatly improves the sound quality on AM talk radio.

I still look forward to a BMW software fix but in the meantime, this makes listening to my favorite sports talk radio station bearable . It is a bit of a pain to reset the sound controls when changing to FM or CD but it's worth it if you listen to talk radio for extended periods.

I have never noticed this. I listen to a lot of talk and Sports Talk radio and never noticed poor sound. Is your car one of the ones that has poor FM sound too and not enough volume and base?

No, I don't have a fix, it is just that some people in the US report problems with their volume and bass levels and some don't have this problem. I don't. I can turn mine up and at 1/2 volume I am blasted out and bass is definately there even when it is set to middle setting. I was just wondering if his AM problems were associated with a radio that has probs with FM aslo.

I have no problems with volume/sound quality or bass level on FM or CD. With AM I experience problems with reception and without using the tone settings I mentioned the speakers create a buzzining sound that is similar to a blown speaker. I know it's not the speakers since FM and CD sound fine. The dealer says it's a software problem and that others with my specs have experienced this problem.

Other members have reported that the AM problem went away with a software update.
