Am I going mad?

Hi guys,

I've just bought an E60 3.0D SE touring and I'm absolutely over the moon with it. One thing I've noticed whilst driving through some twisty windy roads is that occasionally whilst driving on the road centre markings the car steers me back into the (correct) left lane. I've looked into any kind of lane protection system that it might have but can't find anything noteworthy.

Can some one tell me if I'm going insane or does the car actually have this feature?

Thanks for any help!

I think you're going mad.

Mad... no doubt.

Even the newer models(F10) lane departure system is a rumble of of the steering wheel still requiring the driver to respond. Your e60... no way.

When you purchased your car, the seller didn't say its name was "Carrie" did they?????

Could it be tramlining? The term "tramlining" is being used to describe when directional control is disrupted by the vehicle's tendency to follow the longitudinal ruts and/or grooves in the road. It's name could be compared to the tram or trolley driver who does not steer because his vehicle follows the path established by the tracks.

I'm betting you have run flats. Mine used to do that before I switched to normal tires. Felt like it was driving me instead of the other way around. "enhanced" tramlining!?

Thanks for confirming my madness guys.

The garage said they weren't run flats so I didn't bother looking but after a closer look this evening, I am indeed running runflats!

Thanks for your help!
