I actually like the Alu Cube. it is different and it has grown on me. I think the so called wood that BMW put in their cars is very cheap and nasty. For years we have seen these nice cabins in black with nice black leather and black dashboards only to be destroyed by this lump of brown plastic (Sorry wood). I think it dates back to a past inferiority complex like when Jaguar made decent cars and put lots of real wood and leather in their cars.

I really don't like it either and have been thinking of swapping it for the grey birch, however, everyone who has got in my car have commented on how much they like it, I am wondering if it is only previous BMW owners that are not keen, maybe just not what we expect from a BMW??

I don't like the alu-cube either and think the brown wood options in the U.S. look awful so I got the black anthracite - much less distracting than the fake-looking maple with my black leather.

Me thinks - alu cube is baaaad. I prefer the wood (I know, the door's wide open for jokes).

I too avoided buying a used BMW with Alu-Cube it just doesn't look right, I went for one with the grey maple and I very pleased with that choice

I ordered the M Sport before there were any demo cars, or even a brochure.

The one thing about the car that I wish I'd ordered differently is the Alu Cube. Would prefer a dark wood.

It's not too bad. I can live with it. But not what I wanted, and not what I would have expected from a BMW. It is a bit in-your-face.

Yes it's too bright. I think Piano Black is the best to M Sport.

Me too. I like it. Maybe the preference has to do with age also besides the tastes. Older forum members might wana pick the woodie thingie. I for one like my car as it is. No wood, only aluminum. The aluminium burshy option looks too ordinary if u ask me and this alu-cube suits perfect an M-packed bmw.

Take the brushed aluminum (Alu Feinschliff) instead. It looks high quality, modern, and understated. M5 has it as standard too...

Personally I like the Alu cube trim, Ive had the plastic wood in BMW's before and it always looks a bit false. I agree that the Alu cube is a bit in your face but them why buy the sport model if thats not what your looking for ? And you can't tell me those M-sport wheels are anything but that :-)
