My Ride: 2008 BMW 550i 2006 BMW X3

For about the last month, I've had 3 times where I got a low battery charge warning and/or a reset clock. Once it even said DSC, etc was disabled but a restart fixed that. Since the 550i is 1 year old, I took it in for an oil change and for them to look at the problem. A quick diagnosis pointed to the alternator. They claim its a common problem on 5s and 6s but on a 1 year old car???? They over-nighted the part and I got the car back today. I drove a base Dodge Charger for the day. Nice but stripped, smooth, and quiet, but far from a BMW. I think it had 1/2 the HP of the 550i. In higher gears it went nowhere unless wound out.

Has anybody else experienced alternator problems or premature weak/dead batteries?

Yes. 2006 550i. Same warnings. Car went dead. Said .5 cylinders firing, etc. Battery had to be changed and computer reprogrammed.
