Can any one tell me the secret to removing the Battery bolt in the rear of the alternator. I tried a17mm socket and it seems that the bolt is plastic and is being striped away. It is the only thing thats holding me back from removing it. Man it is hotttt is Texas.

I hate when that happens -- been in the same situation especially when working on my back under a hot car!

how could you tell that the altenator needed to be replaced? im having all types of electrical issues and i dont know if its the battery, the altenator, the battery cable, etc...

what issues were you experiencing? now that youve gotten that bolt off (and completed ur install) did all your electrical issues subside?

When I took a look after I got the car home and cooled off it would not crank, had no juice to the battery. I charged the battery with my charger and got it cranked the minute I took the charger off the vehicle began to stumble and die again. I checked the voltage on the battery again after charging it and it held a load so I figured it had to be the alternator . I took it off and took it to O'Reilys auto parts test it and it fail the test badly.
