I have had my 545i now for approx 1 year, having bought it as a ex demo from a dealer in the midlands, as the MD of the dealership was planning running the car for the majority of the time, they had ordered the vehicle with plenty of extra's, including a set of 19" alpina wheels. The salesman at the time said that because the car was fitted with run-flats it didn't come with a spare, jack, or brace.
Guess what happened on Tuesday morning YES I got a puncture!! and no spare, jack, etc.
Turns out that Alpina's cannot be fitted with run-flats and because all E60/E61's come as standard in the UK with R/F's you should invest in the spacesaver/brace/jack when upgrading to non runflat rims. The dealer is claiming to be just as surprised as me, but has promised to supply me with spare wheel etc etc. Having been to France twice, and all over the UK in the last 13 months and carrying 2 very young children I cannot believe how lucky I've been (18,000miles) and no spare. What still surprises me is that I havent even been given an apology the dealer in question just seems to be happy to do the minimum of what you would expect having spent over ?40k with them

Here in the States, we get a call from BMWNA, after each dealer service visit, enquiring about our "experience." I just finished unloading on them because of a bald-faced lie the dealer told me this week. I know from prior experience that these reports get back quickly and accurately and are reflected in work appraisals. So, I'm expecting an attitude change when I next call for an appointment. Or else, I'll effect a dealer change.

Sounds as though you aren't afforded this opportunity to "squeal to Daddy," but you might want to buttonhole that MD if you ever run across him.

Cheers,
Ray Hull

PS: And I can't wait to get rid of the run-flat Dunlops.

I would suggest that you afford the new Continental device to repare your self tyre punctures (it cas around 75 ?? and can be found on the Conti site). It is a compressor together with an injection of a sealing foam. It can be reloaded after use.

Very disturbing story... bad dealer

You should inform them that you could pursue them through BMW UK for such an oversight and that you will now want a free M Mobility System Kit with an extra cartridge - sod the space-saver

PS - we do get courtesy calls to assess customer satisfaction from BMW UK, but they're not always after every visit to the dealer just services

Last time I checked you couldn't get 19" runflats - although I now spot that Dunlop do! (Great - not!)

I've just ditched my runflats and gone Michelin PS2's - great tyre... But I had to buy the retro fit space-saver.....
