11,000 miles on 275/35x19 Bridgestone Protenza 050A RF. Still quiet, about 50% tread life left, handles well.

I've decided to stay with Runflats so my choice is quite limited (I have 275 rears):

Dunlop SP Sport 01 DSST = ?706
Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 EMT= ?717
Bridgestone Potenza RE050 RFT = ?831

I've currently got Dunlop's but I'm sure the F1's or RE050's would be better!?? I've had F1's previously (Not on this car) and they seemed fine, especially in the wet.

Anyone have any views/comments??

The prices are for the tyres only (245/40/18 + 275/35/18) - I'm going to discuss with my dealer fitting charges as they are charging silly prices for the complete 'package'...

The latest issue of R&T has an article on run flats--where the tires are tested on a couple of BMW 3's--because of "their exemplary chassis dynamics and communicative steering."

had F1s non runflats on my Subaru WRX and they are incredible. Currently on Potenza 050 rft and they are very impressive too, ride is quite harsh because of them being a RFT. The only criticism of the F1s is their tendency to tramline on broken surfaces.

Hmmmm, definitely ruled out the Dunlops...

Tough decision between the F1's and RE050A's...

I'm tending towards the F1's because they're slightly cheaper, good wear rate, great in the rain (I'm in the UK!), still good in the dry and fairly quiet... The bridgestones may have slightly better dry performance and steering response...

Can anyone comment on the tramlining on the RE050A's?

This link is quite useful, although it's not for RFTs - TyreComparison

If possible avoid the RFT's. It will improve the comfort a lot.

directional tyres like the F1s tend to tramline, re050 is ok

Possibly but changing wheels on dark rainy English roads...

I've heard mixed feedback on going back to non-RFTs. Hard suspension and v.low profile tyres isn't great for ride, runflats or not!

I'm also trying to understand what tyres to buy next summer!

So far of what I read, my new tyres could be Michelin Pilot Sport PS2, or Continental SportContact2.
But definetly not Run Flat's.

And I'm talking about 245/40 18"'s here.

But the fact remains that the E60 is sensible to tramlining.
