Noticed the last time I washed the car that an area on the back driver's side alloy has lost lacquer. On the flattest part of the edge of the rim.....

None of the alloys have been kerbed, and are more or less perfect (apart from some tar), so this is REALLY pissing me off.

The car is only 9 months old - do you think this should be covered by warranty?

Definately - especially if there is no evidence of kerbing. Which alloys do you have?

I had the same problem with alloys on a e36 328i almost 10 years ago, the car was under extended warrenty at the time, the factory only gave 12 moths in thoes days. When my dealer had the enginere ther from BMW i took it over and once he saw they wer well cared for alloys sanctioned the replacement of 3 wheels.

So if it is not your fault you should have no problem getting them replaced.

Since the car is so new and there is no damage to the wheels I'm sure that BMW would agree to fixx the problem, they'll respray them and they should be good as new.........

The are the standard 18" M Sport (not sure of option code).
