I just bought this car several weeks ago. It went through a pre-purchase inspection at BMW, they didn't catch this so a little concerned what else they may have missed given that this should be pretty obvious to them (Classic BMW in Dallas).

2 tires are worn pretty odd. Took to Discount Tire to see what was up and balance everything. All 4 rims are bent, 3 in the barrel and beyond repair. I hate to live with the problem as I'll just go through tires quickly. I guess I'm looking for something new at this point but have a couple questions. First, is 20" too aggressive for these cars? Or is 19" more of the norm? I don't want to feel everything I hit but do want as big as possible.

A couple options that I like, and maybe a forum vendor may have a deal on something like this with tires...

1) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/20-MI...#ht_4701wt_939

2) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/19-CS...#ht_3709wt_939

3) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/19-M5...#ht_3709wt_939

Is that hyper black any good? Can't say I've seen many with it but do like the look in pictures. Also, I found some 19" M5 take offs for $1700 with tires. Is that a good deal or too high?

Lastly, I remember seeing something here that if I go up in size that I may increase the appearance of the gap in my fender. Is that real or perception on certain installs?

Thanks!

Andy

Out of the 3 you posted, I like the Miro 111's the best. I have 166's, but unless youre getting the OEM ones, most of the knock off 166's dont look as good as the real deal. You can go with 19's or 20's both sizes look good on the e60. As for Hyperblack, well it really depends on the color of your car, and your personal taste.

Good luck and congrats on your new ride!

I have decided on the Miro 111 wheels and talked to Acute. Can someone help me make sure I get the right size tire and confirm that I don't need spacers?

20x8.5 (front) - 245/35/20
20x9.5 (rear) - 275/30/20

This, I think, is one size meatier than "normal" to help me avoid feeling absolutely everything. Will all fit ok without any fender rolling or spacers? Anything else I'm missing (other than the rims and tires!! )?

I think you made a good choice on the wheel style there. Thinking of either the 111 or possibly the M6 style too. Was about to post that you can get the same 11 set at CalSonics for cheaper than Ebay price but since you already talked to Acute, I'm sure you got a great deal too.

Congrats...

it depends on the offsets of the rims. and i'd double check to make sure those tire sizes along with wheel offsets, dont rub. its been somewhat common for members to come on here and complain about rubbing with 20's. maybe do some searching.

i think your tire size is wrong um i believe 295/25/20 in the rear and 255/30/20 in the fronts are what the tire rack guys recommended me when i was looking into tires for some 20's i was interested in

I'm running Miro 111's on Falken 452 tires 245/30/20 fronts and 285/25/20 rears.

The rears will not need spacers since they will be flush with the fenders. If you are going for that stretched and poked look you're gonna need them otherwise I wouldn't bother. I did experience minor rubbing on the rears with my drop which I fixed by doing a light fender roll. I'll probably get 275's for the rear next time around.

The front's could probably accommodate a 10-15 mm spacer with no problem for a more flush and aggressive stance. 10mm won't be a problem, 15mm MIGHT rub on the outside not 100% sure..
I tried 5mm spacers but decided to take them off since they wasn't much of a visual difference. Maybe someone would like to trade my 5mm spacers for 10 or 15mm spacers?

Good to see someone with the rims chiming in. I took your tire sizes and upsized by one to give me more meat against pot holes and such. I talked with Michael at Acute and also with Discount Tire and both believe I won't have rubbing. You are running the width I want in the rear, though, so I wonder if I'll have to roll the fenders (I was hoping not). I realize that upsizing will set my speedo off a little (when it says 50 I'm really traveling 52mph) but I can live with that to give me the additional safety on the sidewall.

If 5mm spacers up front didn't make a difference then I will wait to see how it looks to see if 10mm makes sense. If so, I'll try and snap some pictures for you. The rims and tires were both ordered last night, expecting installation next Thursday!!
