All SMG transmissions the same?

Any idea if all SMG transmissions are the same?
I need an used SMG for my 2004 530i. It looks like it`s pretty hard to find one. I bought one from a place from Texas and ended up they send me a standard manual transmission.
Waited 1 month for the wrong one to show up, they promised me another one and not to worry about..... One month later and no tracking number, nothing. So today i decided to call them again, and after being on hold for 45 min i told them that i`m going to the Police if i don`t get a tracking number or my money back.
Finally they decided to tell me that they don`t have an SMG and all their transmissions look the same like the one they sent me and according to their vin number they are all SMGs and i only had to switch parts from my broken one to the one they sent. (my mechanic thinks that they are crazy). Now i`m hoping i get my $$$ back.

Is the SMG used on Z4 or E46, 6 series, M5 the same as the one used on E60?
Please help!!!!!!:cry::cry::cry::cry::cry:

there's an easy way to find out.

go to realoem.com, record the part number for your transmission. then type that part number back into realoem.com and see if it cross references to any other cars.

What's wrong with your current transmission? Can't repair it?

Try calling Potomac German or Zionsville Autosport. I've used both in the past many times. also try LKQ Corp (google them and find your local location). SMG transmissions for your E60 530i are few and far between.

good luck.

Here is what i got on paper from my mechanic:

"READ OUT FAULTS STORED: 4EF4 SHIFT TRAVEL SENSOR, 4EF5 SELECTION ANGLE SENSOR, 4F75 GEARBOX, GEAR SELECTION NOT POSSIBLE, 4F74 GEARBOX, GEAR DE-SELECTION UNINTENTIONAL. PERFORMED TEST PLAN ON FAULTS. ATTEMPT TO RELEARN GEARBOX. AS GEARBOX CHANGES GEARS, RE-LEARN FAILS AND FAULTS. 4F74 AND 4F75 RETURN IMMEDIATELY...... TEST PLAN DETERMINES THE GEARBOX IS INTERNALLY FAULTY AND REQUIRES REPLACEMENT"

Right now the car is stuck in N. When i try to put it in 1st gear i can hear the SMG pump working but nothing happen.
Reading on forums i see members saying the cause is the slave cylinder. $32 repair kit...but a new one is $80. So why not new?
I`m thinking to try changing that.
Today i posted the car on craigslist for $5500 :(

while i'm not an expert on the smg, it sounds like a small issue. its just a matter of properly diagnosing the problem. find a shop that rebuilds them and ask for advice??

No shop in Vancouver that wants to deal with SMG. They don`e even know what an SMG is...

Does anyone from Cali dealt with this place called Nu-Way Auto Dismantling?
