In a recent test came out that the 550i had very good brakes along with the Audi Q7.

The Beeemer has 348mm front, 345mm rear discs.

Are the lighter models equally equipped or smaller?

Dry road fully loaded: 36.7 mtr from 100-0km, 62.5 mtr from 130-0km (hot brakes 37.1 m and 63.5 M0

Reference: Audi Q7 the same + 1mtr.
Jeep Commander 41.4 mtr and 76.7 mtr!!!!!!!!!(cold brakes) and 148.8 mtr  (hot)

Again a reason for buying a BMW

Anyway, any info on brake dimensions?

No they are not all the same.

I know for sure the 545 has bigger diameter rotors than the smaller engine models. The 545 rotors are also made of a steel disk and an aluminum hub. The other models are all steel. The M has bigger rotors than the 545 and are cross drilled.

no they are not the same...
it depends on which engine you have...
each model has a diffrent brake... 523, 525, 530, 540, 550... im sure the same idea is applied to the diesel engines..

If you look at the US brochure here, disc sizes are reported in the technical specs. 6 cyl engines have all the same discs, V8 larger. IIRC the 535d has the same brakes as the V8.

No idea if calipers, master cylinders etc. vary.

For 550i, yes, it shares the discs and pads with the 535d. 540i and 545i discs are thinner and pads different and cheaper, too.
535d and 550i share the front pads with the M5.
