Airbag issues
Hi there first of all new member and great site!
I wonder if anyone can help me. I purchased a 520i 2004 a couple of months ago and the airbag and seatbelt light are on along with warnings through Idrive about restraints system.
I know the car was accident repaired (cat C) a year ago but has had an mot since this, so guessing the airbag light was off for that this year.
I will try to detail as much as possible.
If a passenger sits in the seat with no seatbelt I get no beeping (although did once with a heavy bag on the seat) same goes for my side. I used a bypass and it asked me to plug in seatbelt. I had (I believe as they seemed to not know how to use the diagnostic machine) the airbag reset with the bypass unit in place for the passenger seat but lights stay on.
I purchased a c110 scanner but it wont read the airbag codes typically !!
Also I have noticed that the car has a 70ah battery fitted and after having the stereo on for a mere 2 mins with engine off a message comes up about low battery could this be the problem? as I have read the airbag system can be disabled in low voltage conditions?
Which takes me to my third question lol is anyone local to Berkshire that could (for a charge) program in a new battery if I purchase one?
Many thanks and sorry for long first post

Welcome!
First step would be to have the battery checked. If the voltage is low you could very well get the error lights/messages you are seeing. Good luck.
