I attempted to change my air filter for the first time today. I didn't have great light and I think I lost a clip. How many clips are on the 2007 530xi cover? I thought I only saw 3 and lost the one by the windshield washer fluid container. Is it crucial that I replace that clip? It seems tight and reinstalled properly otherwise. Does anyone have good photos of the airbox and how to remove the cover properly?

There's 3. One on the bottom left and two on the right. If you dropped the one on the left my guess is its not seated evenly. The dealer sells them for $1-2.
I dropped one of the clips once and used an LED light and wire hanger to fish it back up.

+1, I would get a replacement clip so you maintain a good seal. Just replaced my filter two days ago and I dropped the one in front. I thought it would stay attached to the housing like the two on the right side. I was able to snag mine with a coat hanger.

Thanks to both of you. With the LED, I think I spotted it. Now to get it back and installed.
