Can someone please tell me what went wrong with my windshield install? Is it common to have air bubbles, or the look of air bubbles, between the windshield and rain sensor/rearview mirror assembly? Is this even the right windshield, hence the green T-shape film that is at the top of the windshield?

It is definitely not normal for the air bubbles to be there, and mine has a uniform film at the top of the windshield

I'm pretty sure the rain sensor is snapped into place via a bracket so maybe they broke the bracket and glued the sensor on. I would remove the trim covers around the sensor and inspect further.

Looks nasty, I would have it re-done...

That is never going to work properly. The windshield is supposed to be ordered with that sensor factory applied.

Thanks for the responses. I have made two attempts to have the installer correct the situation, but he seems to not want to take care of the issue. Next I will contact Allstate to see what they have to say. The installer was one that they recommended, so I feel that they are just as responsible.

Has anyone had a similar situation where you had to go back to your insurance company to get them to right the wrong?

That photo doesn't even look right (other than the bubbles). My car has a more retangular area for the light/rain sensor. This photo looks more like the mirror mount itself with a blanked off rain/light sensor area. Take the cover off the mirror and see what is going on with the sensor...it might just be tuck behind the cover and not mounted to the prism (because the prism is missing).
