Aftermarket CIC function

Hi, I've seen the threads on CIC retrofit kits. Has anyone tried this aftermarket solution claming to provide a plug and play solution for a little over $500? Seicane-com http://www.seicane.com/bmw-5-series-e60-gps-navigation-with-radio-bluetooth-ipod-srd-8808

Sounds interesting and for the price compared to going OEM CIC, I would say it's worth a shot.

Interesting, as I was just checking out another option....
Dynavin

Umnitaza has or had a sale going on with them: https://5series.net/forums/vendor-classifieds-36/fathers-day-dynavin-e60-special-$695-shipped-138521/

Thanks guys for the comments, I've been searching all over the web for someone to have purchased a unit from them but it's like finding a unicorn. These items are feature packed and it is difficult to think that I'm the guinea pig to take them for a test drive. I thin I'll hold still until the product has been used successfully by someone on the US side before sending my $$ to the far east.

UPDATE: I found a person who purchased a similar unit (Benz) from this company. It's not the same unit but at least I can almost tell that this is a real company. Guys if you find more information on this unit, please share it here to help out fellow E60 owners. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=soy78ckvvjc

My advice is, if you can read Chinese, try searching for this on an Asian board. The reason is because most of the time, it's Taiwan and the surrounding Asian countries that like to use/install these units. Reason is because they can add additional data much easier than trying to hack into OEM CCC or CIC.

For example, adding speed trap info, red light camera, etc. would be very easy for this aftermarket unit, but would be very difficult for OEM CCC or CIC.

I have Dynavin in my E60 2004 Model for the past 12 months.

Main purpose was for GPS and Bluetooth Phone, even thought I have Bluetooth phone capability as standard BMW. Dynavin allows to sync much later Phones that standard BMW, voice and sound clarity is much better,.

The unit integration works well, no problem so far.

Main issue is the GPS it tough screen and very difficult to operate whilst driving.

Do you still have control of all the other idrive functions?. Can you change climate control settings etc?.

The normal functions appear on the screen.

Pressing the controller down gives you access to a second screens to contains , navigation, multimedia, Bluetooth

All steering wheel buttons function as normal for both screens.

I have also connected a reverse camera and TV functionality

Good to know there is an option if my CCC ever dies.

Paulsk66: Does that mean you have intact factory CCC + everything on the Dynavin as a "submenu" so to speak. What I mean is, do you also keep service messages information, etc...
