Hi i just recently installed my 2-12"s JLw3v2 along with a JL 500/1 amp. For the first two days it was working just fine, and it was still fine when i drove to work in the morning, but then for some reason when i got back into my car to drive home after work, the subs aren't working but the amp is still on.
I tried taking the subs out to get it tested on my friends car, and it worked fine.. so then i took out the power fuse and let the battery reset, then i connected my subs back into my car and it worked for a little bit or if you keep the volume very low, but then when i raise my volume up and the subs just stopped working again...i dont think it is the wiring nor is it the subs, but could be the amp...
has anyone ever encounter a problem like this or know what the problem might be? i dont think anything is blown...![Getlost](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/imported/getlost.gif)
PLEASE HELP!!!

The speakers may not be able to handle the power that comes from the amp. That's why it works at lower volumes and then cuts out when you raise the volume. For that sub I think the max power is around 300watts. Checkout JL audio's site on the specs for that sub. The link below is the newer version of what you have.

Did you buy the amp new? I've had a JL 500/1 connected to 2 12" Alpine type R's and they worked perfectly. They are now in my brothers car. I've had that set up for over 4yrs and speakers and amp still working fine.
You might try lowering the power going to the speakers. Another thing with these amps, is if the battery voltage drops below 8 volts the amp shuts itself off.

Try lowering the bass boost on the amp to 0. Listen to something with a lot of bass, then start turning up the bass boost until it either cuts out again or you get it to where it sounds right to you.
See if that works.
Do you have a capacitor connected to your amp??

i think the problem is fixed now, thank path, its some switch behind the amp, have no idea what it is but it was like in the middle between either on or off, i think that was what cut of the power from going to the subs... still not quite sure what the switch is but none the less the problem is fixed!!!
