So.... have had no issues with my car since putting on my replica 166's on bridgestone pole positions about 2 months back. I'm VERY conscious of rattles, vibrations, and sounds in general. Before I took my car in to get an oil change, brakes/rotors changed, and sirius installed I was fairly used to the typical sensation from the stiff sport suspension. After getting the car back though, I noticed ONLY of speeds over about 50mph that there's some serious vibration issues. My drivers/passenger seats and steering wheel rattle quite heavily. I don't notice it at all at slower speeds, and have even thrown it into neutral to make sure it's not engine related. When I called up my BMW dealer they said to first make sure the wheels were still balanced properly. Took the car back to where I had them installed and everything checked out fine. Tech also noticed how obvious the vibration was and couldn't figure out what was causing it but ruled out that it was wheel-related. It's so strong that if no one is in the passenger seat it rattles a good 1-1.5" back and forth when on freeways. Called BMW again and asked why this was NOT happening before my service and what they could have done that could have caused it to happen. He offered of course to have it looked over since I'm still under warranty but said if it ended up being wheel/rim related I'd obviously have to pay for their time. I'm a tad nervous bringing it in since I'm kinda low on $$ right now (thanks to the damn mods) and really don't want to come out of there with a huge bill of several hours of labor just to find out that the wheels WERE off or unbalanced. What do you guys suggest? I've heard the 166's can have a vibration to them is this what people are referring to or does this sound like something else? Has anyone else had weird issues like this after servicing their bmw for brakes or oil?

I wonder if you had hubcentric rings on the replicas that either got removed or are now worn or out of place on the hub. If you don't have hubcentric rings, this is probably the problem. I doubt the 166 reps have a 72.56 bore...and you might have gotten lucky installing them the first time and now they are not seated correctly.

Welcome to the world of replicas rims from non-reputable manufacturers. I've never heard a good story yet about rep 166's. I am guessing it's a hub issues since it was fine prior but is now unbalanced since removing the wheels. Good luck!

In addition to hub centric rings, were the wheels and tires road force balanced?

Interesting! I'll look into the hubcentric rings... if one was accidentally NOT put back on at the dealer where would I find replacements?

TireRack can send you 4 in a day or so.
$3 each. They come in Metal. As for 74.1mm exterior/72.56mm interior.

I think that the advice above is dead on.

There would be no way for the dealer to even know what they were doing when they took off your replicas.

This is one where you really can't blame them, but you should be able to fix the problem.

As a second recommendation, when they install the wheels again with the rings, have them rotate the wheel in a circle during the tightening of the wheels to ensure the weight is distributed properly. Most rings are not exact, and the rotation will help give a perfect centering.

I have the same issue...it hurts to hear that vibration sounds. It all happend after putting on my rims. Done a lot of research...I Doc is the master and he is probably right. I did roadforce one wheel was off, but it still vibrates and this damn squeaky sound comes from my steering. Next steps im doing is brakes/rotors by dealer.....off course im going to swap the rims with the stock first cause i know the dealers use any excuse to not work!. After that I going to get alignment.....and i havent even lowered it. Im going to look into the hub issue. The funny part is i bought my whole setup from another springs/rims and his car never shaked...but he has 06 sport suspension and i have 04 standard.
