Dude, you got ripped! The video has the blonde chick who shows you how to shut the trunk by grabbing the inside of the trunk. I would never have known that there was a handle there to do this. I also got a free DVD of The Hire - 8 short films.

I think you can get this free through the Owners' Circle. Just log into your account and select "Owners' Rewards" from the "BMW Information" menu...

Yup you can... I've already requested one from an older E34 VIN... I wonder if I can get another one using the new E60 VIN.

Yup, that is a good trick, I always used to use it on my 745. Good idea posting it for people who did not know it.

I am not familiar with the e60's iDrive, but in the 745 you could go from comm to nav (or any to any) with just a single movement without having to hold it for 3-4 secs (it would go there instantaneously). Maybe, they changed it when they put in the "Menu" button. My 02 and 03 745s did not have the menu button.

I figured out that trick in the first week. But I know what you are talking about, with trying to turn off the turnsignal and accidentally signaling the opporsite direction.

Thanks Hinkley, but I was doing that all the time. I changed it in I-Drive because with my style of driving,it just does not give me enough clicks so why even have the feature. When changing lanes on the h'way I like to signal early enough to let the car behind me know I am about to make a move. I then gradually move over. By moving gradually over, rather than making a quick change, he sees what you are about to do, and reacts accordingly. I always check my blind spot, but sometimes unexpected things happen. Better safe than sorry!
Wish BMW gave us the option to change to 4 or 5 automatic clicks. 3 clicks just don't make for safe driving. Are you listening BMW! Why not come out with a softwear change that gives us that option?

Now, how do we work it so we don't hit the cruise control stalk instead of the blinker??? It's in the same place as my blinker in all my other cars, so naturally, I always hit it instead of the blinker.

I don't have that problem but at least if you do accidentally hit the cruise instead of the blinker, you're not engaging the cruise, only turning it off...

But turning off the cruise when you are cruising 80 mph can be disconcerting. There you are moving into the fast lane while slowing down with no blinker.

Yeah, I never thought of that situation.

Either way, I've never felt that the cruise stalk was "in the way" yet I've always wondered why they changed it from the old days when it was at around the 4 o'clock position. That configuration always worked well for me. Also, the old way was more logical in that pushing it away from you was resume, pushing it up was accelerate and set, pushing it down was decelerate and set, and pulling it toward you was off. The new arrangement adds a resume button and gives you two off postitions. It doesn't make any sense...
