No way I would go for this... 2 more years or 15,000 miles left? Really what good is that. Plus your talking about a 525i here... There's no way this sounds like a good deal by any means... There is other members on here selling their cars still under warranty. They just don't transfer over the maintenance (CPO) but it's crap anyways, and a waste of money. They give you 1 oil change every 15k miles when if you care about your car you should be getting it done every 7.5-10k miles at most.

They will give you tires if they become warn down I think? Wiper blades, coolant? Brakes?

I don't know I never even used it. By the time I needed anything I was already over the 50k miles.
this doesn't have just 2 yrs 15,000 miles left. It has 2 yrs 15,000 miles left on bumper to bumper and after that the 2 yrs 50,000 CPO. CPO is not maintenance coverage. That is under the 4yr, 50,000 mile original warranty. Considering I driver 5ooo miles a year it is attractive to me.
I have had 3 BMW's all CPO'd. All but the current one had issues that arose and were covered such as O2 sensors , secondary air pump, and radiator.

Hey Martin,

Yes, it's a 3 litre, 215 HP btw. Based on the fact that you don't drive it a lot, that's a sound deal. You'll still be under 50K in two years, so what's the diff? If a 525 suits your needs, then get it. Not everybody wants or needs a V8, although some people have a hard time fathoming that people buy cars based on different criteria than their own. You've had lots of experience with CPOs, so obviously you're comfortable with the way it works. I say post some pics when you get it!

Cheers,

I'm not trying to get punchy, but I don't understand your point. The car still has 30% of its warranty left, and CPO is worth something, as it protects against a catastrophic drive train failure, if nothing else. I just purchased my CPO (MY06 530i) and I looked at over 50 cars. If the car is clean, its not a bad price. These cars are bringing good money.

A 525i is a very nice car...I don't see your point.

Okay maybe I am missing something here.... Does a vehicle warranty not transfer if the car is sold private party? I bought my BMW from a non BMW dealership and it still had the warranty for being under 50k...

I thought CPO was only maintenance plus warranty?

So if I'm correct then my point is still valid that CPO is BS only thing that matters is you have a warranty still. Plus you can always purchase and the maintenance and extend the warranty with the $6,000+ dollars you will save purchasing private party.

So I think I still have a valid point here whether I am right or wrong about warranty transfer.

Oh and PS yes the 5 Series is a nice car I will not say 525. Because it's a base model and definitely not worth $30,000 I would just go ahead and get a 3 series if I ever started considering a 525i  Why pay 30k for a 2007? When you can pay 22-24k for a 2005 545i with a few thousand more miles and purchase a 100k warranty on it?? Even a 530i is good just not a 525i please!

If there was a 2005 545i with a few more miles for that price, and it was clean, your right. I couldn't find one in Miami, but maybe you have a different market. I traded my older 5 series for a 3 series, and although the 3 was nice, I liked the 5 better, but thats just my opinion.

First I would say...purchase what you like, ultimatley you are the one who is driving it. But on another note I purchased my '04 545i CPO in Jan with 36, 000 miles on the clock for $22k out the door. Granted it does not have all the bells in whistles, but it suits my needs. Good Luck!

You already have a 525 so you know what it is and if you are happy with it then get another one. I like my 07 525 xi it does everything I want it to do. Yes it is the basic model, but I am OK with that. So rather then rip apart the car you want to but, I belive you are asking is it is an acceptable deal. Last Aug I paid $35K for mine and it had 8,000 mile on it. At $29k I think you have a pretty good deal. Is it a killer price, probably not, but with the CPO it is not bad.

I am happy going from an 05 525 with 184 hp to an 07 525 with 215hp. That is a jump for me. I do not drive a BMW for the speed. Trust me you can get pulled over in a 525 just as easily as a 545. I drive it for the handling.
You are right about a 3 series, but, being 6ft tall I feel confined.
Basic to me is no premium package, no xenons, no sirius. I believe you can still get a 5 series with leatherette interior. To me that is basic.
