Sometimes, ya never know how things are going to turn out. After my $180 tow job to a Green Island, that isn't, I was surprised and pleased to see my 545 keeping such good company. Look two spaces beyond to the wire wheel and maroon nose. Brings back some 40-year old memories of mine...just glad I don't have to crank those 12 cylinders in these temps.

Oh, and $7500 damage to mine; nothing mechanical except power steering reservoir. I went right under a new Ford crossover.

+1 - I hate seeing a wrecked E60, but I'd hate it even more if you were hurt.

I'm betting it didn't. To me, and Ray can chime in any time to help clear things up, it looks like one of those rear enders where Ray hit the brakes hard enough to nose dive under the other car's bumper. The fact that it was a crossover might also mean the rear bumper was a bit higher than the front of Ray's car...

It was a FORD crossover? I'd believe that, I see many of them broken down on the roadside, I guess it just stalled (or threw a rod?, Transmission failed? Electrical bugs?) in the middle of the road in front of you and the rest was history. They really are a menace! Glad you are okay and your car is on the mend too!

Bingo Rudy: I was third in line at an intersection to take a right on red. First car went, oncoming traffic was stopping, lady ahead pulled up but chickened out. I jumped on the brakes, from maybe 10 ft. start and went right under her Ford bumper. All "soft tissue" for me (e.g. headlights @ $1300); bumper never connected. She said she was "shaken" (as opposed to numb) but have no idea of how she is now. Couldn't be much whiplash since our bumpers never connected. FWIW, I have BMW high-performance coverage through Liberty Mutual. Their Roadside Assistance line kept cutting me off and it wasn't Bluetooth! Otherwise, they seem to be progressing expeditiously.

Will keep you posted; anticipate 30-day repair (in a rented vanilla Chrysler 300).

Let's hope "shaken" lady doesn't sue you for what seems to be the going rate of $54 million...
