Hi. I have been assuming that this is not possible,.. but then again considering that it is just software it should be possible to change!

When you stick the gear in reverse the 'other' side mirror folds down so that you can see the curb. But for me it folds down too far! I only want it to fold about 50% of what it now does.

Does anyone have any ideas or experience on how to change this? Can the dealer adjust it?

Ronald

I agree, it is software and SHOULD be possible.
BUT: this is possible for BMW Munich's engineers. I haven't found or heard about a dealer that can do it.

Does it also go too low for your use or is it just me?

It's fine for me. I tend to use it to see where the kerb is to avoid hitting the rear wheel against it (say last 30-50 cm), and it's perfect for that. If I have to "drive" in reverse i.e. longer than a simple parking manoeuvre, then I switch the dip-down off and use the mirror in its normal position.

I've got the electrically foldable mirrors, is the movement on reverse something the dealer can activate or is it another option because that would be really useful IMO. If it is something they can activate has anyone had it done? And in the UK how much did they charge?

Thanks

The mirror is activated if you bring the door mirror "selector" back to the driver's side. If you leave the selector at the "nearside" mirror position, the facility is disabled.

It can't be activated, it has to be ordered from the factory. It's an option.

I have exactly the same option and issue as you. Having seen this topic in the Forum before, I know it had to be activated by the dealer, and is not possible via iDrive. Spoke to the dealer, who confirmed this, and mine is going to the dealer next Monday to be activated free of charge... and I'm also getting the full chrome grill fitted as well - unfortunately not free of charge!

so just go to your dealer and tell them they forgot to activate and they should do it for you free of charge

cheers

I want the exact same thing - sometimes. It depends on how I am backing up. If simply backing next to a curb, it's great right now. If backing out of a narrow driveway, I would like it to be 50% of what it is now.

I wish it was designed so it would simply dip down to the last setting. After it dipped, you could manually adjust it and it would remember where you left it off next time it dipped down.
