Hi! Buddies.
I have E60 for 2weeks now.
Today I asked a dealer for adding a CD changer.
The price was around $850.

Do you have some idea to get discounted OEM cd changer and
to activate it?

Thank you in advance for every comments.

Yea, that's about what I've been quoted as well. Seems a real ripoff when a lot of other cars (almost all in the E60 price range) come with cd changer standard (usually in dash cd changer).

(btw: I'm still impressed by the amount of standard features in the Acura TL, for example)

I got mine put in for ?450 by the dealer!

Be warned on several fronts:

1. As they were finishing off the job, something caused the IDRIVE to crash - thus leaving my carless! (they had to loan me a car as it was Xmas eve)

2. They then had the nerve to tell me that it was going to cost more than the ?450 they qouted me.. but they backed out on that because of the mess above!

3. It takes them several hours to install it - because of the need to integrate it into IDRIVE - that's wny I think an OEM CD changer won't work!

Happy Shopping!

Mine cost ?270 (list price for the option) and the dealer fitted it for nothing. Our friend BMW525 is right - you will need to source the changer from BMW as it does integrate with the I-Drive computer. It is also very sensitive to the I-Drive software release levels as my dealer had to update the display unit to a new unit with a higher software release level in order for it to talk with the CD changer. This also fixed a small problem with the transmission downshift from 2nd to 1st (previously a bit rough) and another issue with the display not operating in sub-zero temps.

BMW will need to do this - as the CD changer is controlled thru IDRIVE

Unless of course, you have access to the equipment and software to do this!
