hi,
after the first oil service i have this message displayed every 1600-1800 km (approx 1000 miles). before the oil change i had to top-up 1 liter only after first 11 000 km ...
i have also noticed that sometimes the 'diesel like' smoke from my exhaust when starting the car in the morning - not really much, but noticeble.
should i be worried?

OK diesels do use a bit of oil - my current car 0.5l every 10,000 miles or so (it has done 118k miles) - but not to the extent yours appears to.
Could be a faulty level sensor or perhaps a leak? If it was actually burning that amount of oil people would be calling you James Bond!
Regards,

What model is your car?
Do you use the engine on high revs?

Something definately not right (but you know that cause youve asked the question) I have the same engine, but not the same problem. Get it to the dealer incase its something serious. Sounds like a leak to me.

Driving only short distances doesn't let the oil in your engine warm up enough to be fully effective. Engines that see little extended driving will wear faster.

Have them fix it!
PS. You do not drive on high revs and short distances.
So take your car to the Autobahn!
