Does anyone fully understand the function of the adaptive tranny and how it learns ?

ie, after a basic 25 sec gbox reset does that clear everything or still leave some memory in the ecu ? I understand it starts learning for every new journey ? so what aspect of the learning is accumalitive ?

hope that makes sense

I'm not sure exactly what it resets and leaves intact, but I do it at least once a week and the resulting smoothness is ALL I care about!

I think every two weeks is way overkill, hope it doesn't impact on the performance/other issues over time.
I reset mine about two months ago after learing about this for the first time, and it made a world of difference. It is still smooth as silk and I don't feel the need to reset it agian yet. So far so good.

i think the reset sets everything back to factory settings and it starts learning the way you drive all
over again i did mine after learning about it on this forum about two and a half months ago and
it made a big difference in the speed and smoothness of the gear changes even the wife noticed
(which says something) she thought it was a new car still smooth as silk now will probably do about
every four months

Have people noticed if the transmissions shift a little harsher after someone else drives the car, i.e. a spouse or g/f?

For me it does seem the memory is fully reset after 30 secs but find the 1st drive after a reset crucial to lay down a base map in the ecu. ie if the 1st journey is stop/ start/erratic the base map would be no good and would have to reset again. If the 1st drive is smooth/swift then the base map will be fine.
If this is how it does work then dont fully understand how the ecu copes with each journey thereafter ie. does it start a fresh journey map every time the car is started maybe ? but the base map maybe picks out elements of every journey.
Does seem strange that the map always deteriates to need resetting rather than getting better to not need resetting.

Hi all, I haven't tried the reset before. I just need to keep the accelerator pedal to the floor for 25 sec to reset? Key on?

Thx
Jay

Better keep your foot down for 60-90 seconds to be sure. There's no audible or visual feedback to indicate anything happens, and I'm not sure 30 seconds is long enough.
