Adaptive headlight malfunction. Right low beam malfunction
 

Hello recently I bought my 08 528xi. When I bought it I didn’t realize that the insulation on my wires was deteriorating in my headlight housings. The dust shield on top of the xenon bulb fell off at some point as well. Water has gotten in the housing unfortunately and I am now receiving these error messages due to the water getting on the exposed wires. I checked the fuses for these lights in case there was a short but there all intact. Do you have any suggestions on what I should do? Has anyone else had this problem?

Common problem, the insulation deteriorating. You can take the headlight out and try to re-insulate what you see. I've done some of that using plain silicone caulk. Some have taken the entire headlight apart. There are some threads and YouTube videos. You can also go to a junkyard and get a replacement. Before you exit the junkyard make sure you open up the access hatches and have a look at the wire condition. Or, you can buy new ones -- $$$$.

Every E60 has had that problem. Either tape wires up or get new assemblies.

Gotcha so is my current headlight assembly done for? I was going to put liquid electrical tape on the wires but how do I get the adaptive headlight dash light to turn off?

You can use liquid tape and be good to go. Depending on how bad it is and if you got everything all lights should go away unless you have a module issue which is a quick and easy fix

Ah I see is it not working because the wires are still being exposed to water? And when there covered they will work correctly unless it’s a module problem? I’m not an electrician lol

It's not working because they are shorting out. Wires touching wires unless you have a module issue also. You will not know that until you fix the wires
