Hi there
I've just bought a 2004 545i with active steering. However the steering wheel is not straight! How does one get this straightened. Regards |
Congrats on your new E60! An alignment service from your BMW center will take care of it. Runs about $150-200. Welcome to the forums! :welcome:
|
You might not need an alignment... If the car tracks straight and only the steering wheel is not pointing straight then it just needs a Active Steering reset by the dealer.

Cheers.
The active steering clicks at about 45 degree angle to the right while I'm driving? Doesn't do this on the left side? Is this normal? Regards |
I read on here a few months back that you can do an active steering reset manually....something like turn the wheel right, then left, then back to center..or something like that. Maybe someone that knows for sure will chime in

Regards This happened to mine a few weeks ago the dealer said it was a broken clockspring in the steering column. Apparently there was a broken tab. Sorry, I'm not really sure what it was, but they also gave me a new steering wheel because they said that is the only way they could get it to back together with the tab. Glad I have warranty and I hope you do too. |
I'm banking that you need a active steering reset.
