The active steering warning light came on my 530i this morning and the steering seems kind of stiff. Anyone else have this problem? I guess I need to take it into the dealer.

I wonder if the quick control, alt, delete would reset it if it is a software issue not mechanical?

Did the message read "Active Steering Failure" or "Steering Fault! Loss of Fluid..." ?

The one time that I got the Active Steering Failure message a quick restart solved it and all has been well for the last month or so.

The one time that I got the Steering Fault message I ended up with a loaner for 8 days and a new steering rack.

I hope yours is the 1st and not the latter.

I didn't actually get a message just the steering wheel symbol with an exclamation point after it.

I'm sure that when I drive my car at lunch the problem will have gone away - right.
