Test drove 530 with and without active steering. Wasn't crazy about active steering. Am I missing something? Is this a gimmick? Help me before I order.
Thanks.

I had the same thought. The active steering made the low speed turns seem too quick. And I'm not sure that I need to make quick 90 degree turns in parking lots. The roll stabilization worked incredibly well, I have to add. I wish I could save $ and order just that feature. I don't think the package is worth it to me, so I will go without.

I think you need to spend more time with it. I love the Active Steering. Gives the car a much more solid feel and helps to avoid understeer. This car corners better than any car I have owned yet.

I agree with Tim. I've had my car, fitted with active steering, for a few weeks now, and have covered 2,000 miles. The active steering initially felt excessively direct at low speeds, but after a couple of days I was fully acclimatised to it. In fact, I was driving around a roundabout just yesterday, and as I exited it I suddenly thought "I haven't even been conscious that the active steering is there for at least a week". It now feels totally fluid and natural, but the upside is that it is very direct in tight bends, and effortless for 90 degree turns and three point turns. It also turns in a very solid performance on the motorway, with no vagueness around the straight ahead, and with no steering input necessary to keep it straight. I wouldn't hesitate to spec it. Besides, if you don't go for the sports pack (not avilable in the UK as a bundle), you don't get the dynamic drive active anti roll.
