well as you may have seen, bmw's are available with active roll stabilization (ARL).
i never knew that the system actually leans the car. i thought it just locked the stabilizer bar.
it's a neat system.

what i thought was a steering noise that i have, turns out to be the ARL.
the ARL runs off the power steering pump. the noise i had occured only when i was in motion, and turning. the noise comes from the passenger side floor, since the control for the ARL is right underneath there.

even though the noise is very slight, i want to figure out how to fix it. i am going to flush the system and add some lubrizol, which some others have done before.

anyone else have any experience with the ARL system?

yeah, i can hear the the control valve on mine, since it is bolted right beneath the passenger floor board. it seems like a bad place to mount the unit, since noise can transmit easily into the car, since bmw says its normal.

I'm on the verge of buying a car which has dynamic drive (Active Roll Stabilisation) so I will be able to let you know in a week or two time. However, I never heard it on the test drive or previous vehicles that I've test driven which also had dynamic drive.

I definitely hear mine and the intensity is consistent with the speed and steering angle. It seems normal to me.
