When driving in traffic, things seem to work fine ... but when on the open road (no other cars around) for long periods of time, my ACC deactivates (says clean the sensor and/or get it to the shop) ... then after that, the ACC won't work for around 15 - 30 minutes, then its OK again ... just got back from driving 1400 KM in a day and when the ACC isn't working, I have no cruise control at all (not even the standard cruise) ... very upsetting considering how much the option costs.

If you also had this problem, what did your dealer do to resolve it?

No problem on my car, I used it in France on the autoroutes for periods of up to 2 hours set at 90MPH.

I'd suspect that there's a fault with the system on your car,

When I ordered mine I asked the dealer whether it was effective and reliable - it has been on the 7 series for a while - and he said they had a couple of cars where the sensor was faulty/damaged, but apart from that very reliable.

Mine works fine.

I used it on the Florida turnpike from Orlando to Palm Beach, and back. Was clocking 110 mph most of the way.

Leaned my seat back, put out the leg extension so my feet were not even touching the floor or pedals... and extended the steering wheel out so I could reach it... It was like I was in a lounge chair.

I had an ACC failure error (and no cruise control) for several months!

Dealer tried to solve it 2 times, but they were advised not to try anything more until a special ACC calibrating tool arrived. It seems that's a set of mirrors set up in a specific way to assist the calibration of the ACC radar.

After they've use the tool, ACC has worked fine.

Just got the car. Haven't tried it out yet. But I'll post as soon as have a chance to try it out.

Mine works fine. I did European Delivery and used it at high speeds on the autobahn. I have also used it for long stretches on I95 in the U.S. Only twice have I had it freak out when someone passed me closely on the right which ACC incorrectly thought was in my lane, so it engaged the brakes hard.

Had the car at the dealer yesterday where they put it on the scope, after an hour, they found 1 fault with the connectors, so they cleaned them all up and re-attached everything and said all should be fine.

Taking her on the hi-way this morning (every tee time) so should be a good test.

Still have the same problem. Car is back in the dealership today for "software update". Just not sure its a software problem when it seems that no one else have this problem ...

At least they gave me an X5 4.4 to drive, but it's no e60!

Hi
I have the same problem on my E60 530d, 2004
How did you solve your problem.
My dealer suspects the radar sensor is broken.
A new sensor is very expensive so I don?t want to change it if it?s ok...
