You need to get your VIN number. I remember menu 1 once you get into this secret menu will show the last 7 digits of your VIN. Assuming it is B3XYZAB, I simply do X+Y+Z+A+B. Then whatever this sum turns out to be I just go to menu 19, and enter it there. As you can see, the max of X+Y+Z+A+B is 45 (all 9's). You can also try circulating through each of these numbers in menu 19. There are only 45 of them.

Sorry but I'm a bit slow - how do you work out what number the alpha characters are? (Why are they 9's?)

The last 5 digits are always numeric. I used XYZAB to represent them.

Thanks - I said I was slow! If I'd bothered to look at my VIN number first, I'd have realised they were numbers. Anyway, now that I know, I'll go have a "play".

Hold down the km reset button and turn the key to first position (radio on) immediately release the button.
You will see a small display where the time/temp etc. usually appears.
Sequential presses of the button steps through this menu ie. 1,2,3,4,5 etc. up to about 21.

Mine goes trough 1.0 to 1.7. How to jump to second level?

Add up the digits of the numbers printed on your window.

Please clarify.

Go to position 19 on the menu and wait a second or two. Under lock you will see a position to enter the calculated number which you do by sequential presses of the button.

Once you get to your calculated number stop pressing the button and wait.

Calculated number?!

Menu goes back to position 1.
Now toggle through to say position 7. Once you get there wait a couple of seconds and you will then see 7.1, next press shows 7.2 etc. etc.

You will see that it displays, rpm, fuel consumption, battery voltage, current speed, core temp. etc. etc. etc.

Each menu has something different some meaningful some not so meaningful.

Those of you that understand German may be able to translate.

Good luck

Streak

I cannot get past 1.0

And i see nowhere to add anything up or put anything in? If i click through it just goes from 1.7 back to 1.0 and then keeps going through....

Once you get into the menu, it shows something like B123456 for example. For me the "calculated number" is the sum of the last 5 digits of this. So, in this example, the calculated number would be 2+3+4+5+6 = 20.

To change to the next menu, you press and hold the knob until you see 1.-- (something like that). Release the knob but press it again before it goes to 1.0 again. You should be in menu 2.0 now. If you leave it long enough, then you will be cycling in submenu of 2.0 when you press the knob. I hope I am clear enough. So to change the menu, you continue to press quickly.

You must unlock the menu first in order to see all the rest of the menu. Go to menu 19. You will see something that says lock, and the last line is something like "code?" which will show up after a very short delay. Once it shows up, press the knob continuously until you see your "calculated number" shows up. Then stop, and let it go back to menu 1. Your menu would be unlocked now. Remember, once you see "code?", you must key in your calculated number. If not it will go back to menu 1 on its own.

BTW, my avatar shows what you will see in menu 2. You don't need to unlock the menu to see menu 2 though.

Much clearer. How to key in your calculated number? By pressing the knob 20 times (for number 20) or ...? I am asking because I don't want to find myself in the car won't start because I played with something "hidden". Imagine embaresment at the dealer.

Yes pasquale that's correct. Once in menu 19 and in unlock mode, each time you press the button the count advances by on so 20 presses for 20.

I often make use of this hidden menu for various reasons. The latest was to monitor battery voltage before and after charging the battery after the car sat for a month while I was away.
