Default Accident - Steering wheel

Guys, I had an accident today where the front right corner ran into another car. My bumper is damaged which I am not concerned about, but the wheel took the impact and now while driving the wheel seems to be driving okay, but if I need to turn the steering wheel turns with a bit of jerky motion and not smoothly. Does anyone has any ideas what could have got damaged? Can the control arm, ball points, tie rod and sway bar be affected? Could this impact on on shocks? Any suggestions are welcome before the Insurance takes it away for repair.

The answer is YES! I had an incident not too long ago that involved running over a cinder block that was dead square in the middle of the road at night.

The car was high centered in the middle of the road so I had a tow truck lift the car, removed the block, inspected and saw no apparent damage. Drove the car home with no problem.

The next day I decided to have the car inspected even though it drove as always. Damaged the Active suspension system. Bent the sub frame that supports the suspension system system. damaged or destroyed the underside covers. nearly cut one of the power steering hoses in half..
Total damage $5,000.00.

Potential or an accident or incident - Large. have it inspected.

Update - After nearly 1.5 weeks, the dealer has declared that the steering rack has been damaged and they have ordered one from Germany. Does anyone know on a '04 E60 with dynamic drive, which of the following is the steering rack?

Hydraulic power steering
Power steering pump
Lubrication system
Steering system connectors
Steering column
Steering wheel

Thanks.

The first one is the rack itself, it's about 2 or 3 Gs if I remember correctly.

Need last 7 of your VIN you could have Dynamic Drive and Active Front Steering so your setup will be according to. But with the above I would say #1. I don't know how bad damage was but It's probably going to be about a $5K job and it has to be done right. If not you'll have more domino effect problems down the road

$tealer told me min 4K. Does the controller arms etc is part of this hydraulic steering rack? Is there an easy way to make sure suspension is not affected?

Control arms are not part of the rack they are control arms. to check if suspension is affected just get under the car and look. If the arms are bent = yes. If rubber bushings are torn = yes.
