NoQuarter might be right. Spark seams to be the issue with what you are describing. I can not speak on the coils because I have 165k on the dash and my original coils are good. Coils could cause the issue you are having but a code should be thrown. One or two maybe on their way out. If that is the case then all should be replaced. Me, I would wait until a code is thrown or troubleshoot the coils to make sure that is the issue. May I ask what type of plugs did you put in the car. If they aren't the right kind that could be an issue also. I see a lot of people buy cheap ones thinking they will get 100k out of them when actually they are 30k plugs.

My comment was just a generalization - not specific to this particular problem necessarily.

At 150,000 on the coils, he won't be disappointed replacing them regardless if it solves this particular problem or not.

Ageing coils have an affect on the performance regardless of whether it is bad enough to cause a code.

The BMW dealer installed the plugs at 100K. So the plugs arent the issue. Im also thinking if its the coils than i should be getting a code/cel. Right?

This is a tricky issue. Bad enough to cause a code and bad enough to affect performance are 2 different levels.

I weak spark is still a spark. The cylinder still fires.... just loses some of its mojo, leaving someone disappointed.

Hopefully that fixes your issue. What you hope it is not is an injector going bad. What type of fuel do you use.

Ok just checking. Some people go 89 and we wouldn't know unless they tell us. I use the same additive alternating with red line
