******UPDATE*****
The misfire is due to oil leaking through the spark plugs and mixing with electricity. What i need now is a valve cover gasket job along with plug seals and the eccentric shaft sensor replaced. $$$
Coils are fine.

The sensor is $260 at most and the gasket is no more than $35. If you are buying it at those prices then you're getting robbed. Check out pelican parts. I'm sure the VDO sensor which came in the car from factory is not near $500. And if you shop around you might can find the VDO at $200. If you are getting those prices from the stealership invoice then I see why they are so expensive. I would suggest an Indy for this job. A 10 year old car at the miles you have are not worth waisting money at the dealership. That is just my opinion.

End result. No more bucking and misfiring. Car is running well so far. Still on original ignition coils. Those i can do myself if i ever get a fault or whatever. Hope this helps to anyone with this issue. Oil and electricity dont mix. hehe.

just pull the coils out to see if they're all dry. Mine weren't. Cylinders 3 and 4 were soaked in engine oil. Therefore misfiring every so often. I definitely feel the power back too. And im still on the original coil pack. Will replace those as needed.

Responding to this post late, hope it's helpful
I came to this looking to help fix my 2010 535i. I experienced this same issue with my 2001 E46 330xi and did replace my ignition coils but that didn't fix the RPM fluctuation. Do replace your DISA Valve, the seals fail on it and my problem was fixed.
Good luck!
