About to purchase E60.....

I am about to purcahse a used E60 520 or 525i and I have a few questions:
1. Was the HUD ever standard or has it always been an option?
2. What options should I look out for?
3. What things shall I check when I'm inspecting the car?
Hope you can help, I'll post pics when I've purchased ;o)

I don't think it's ever been a standard, since it uses a different glass for the front.
2. What options should I look out for?
Depends on what you want. To each his own, I say. I really wished I bought the NAV, for example.
3. What things shall I check when I'm inspecting the car?

Yes, comforts seats is a must... I wish I was aware of this wonderful forums (E60.net)

If I could go back I would have gotten the comfort seats. The standard seats are a joke. You won't be able to tell on a test drive, but you will know after a long trip.
