my lease ends next september but my plan is to get a 09 e92 M3 than a 08 e92M3. so i need to keep my

current e60 for one more year til 08 september, then it'l be about the same time as 09M3 comes out. when

do i have to ask about extend lease program? at the end of lease? and how does it work? just pay same amount for one more year?

I don't know how does it work in your area. In here BMW Canada will extend your lease up to 6 months at a time if you are ordering a new vehicle from them to replace the existing leased one. You will have to continue to pay your current lease at the existing monthly amount, and they will allow you extra mileage on a pro-rated basis in accordance to your existing contract. (e.g.: For a 36 month 72,000km lease they will allow 2,000km extra per month.) When you take delivery of the new vehicle you have until the end of the current month period to return the vehicle. (e.g.: Your lease is due at the 24th of the month and the new car arrives on the 5th, you can keep the old one until the 23rd since you have already paid for the month. At the same time your new lease payment starts on the 5th. Ouch!!)

Financially this is a bad deal since you are paying for a longer lease at a shorter lease's monthly payment amount, which is always higher. At the end BMW makes the extra money but what else can you do? You are at their mercy!

If you negotiate you may get a better deal. Unfortuantely the lease is with BMW Financial and the dealer only does the selling. The best they can do is perhaps to give you a little bit more discount on the new car just to lure you in.

You may be better off return the car at the end of the lease, look for a short term solution for the time gap in between, and start fresh when the new one arrives.

They will extend your lease for a year in a heart beat (at the same rate)
You should definitely try and renegotiate the lease terms
