Dude working on my car says i have a fault showing. It calls "9AAC System Time Fault". I have a 2004 530I, right now my air bag and seat belt lights are on. Does anyone know what is going on? The Mech can't figure out the problem, and BMW is making me wait 2 months to get me in, since i bought the car from the States and i live in Canada! Oh yeah and my Idrive is also down, is it only BMW that can fix this problem?

Any luck with this?

I can venture a guess as to -why- some of the things are failing. The system time must be synchronized across the various components. Accounting is very important for various events - say, an airbag deployment, or whether a seatbelt was engaged when that airbag was deployed.

For whatever reason, it would appear that part of your car's systems cannot agree on what time it is, and certain components report an error (I hope they still function) until the time is synchronized.

Have you tried disconnecting the battery for a period of time and then reconnecting it?

Cheers mate, i will be checking in on the Mech today. I will ask him to disconnect the battery and see if things reset. Otherwise i'll just have to wait till BMW get me in and charge five fingers and a small toe!

No luck, no changes. Very frustrating. I will have to wait on the Dealer.

Bummer. The other scenario is that whatever device generates the time that all the other components key in on is either broken, not getting power, or disconnected from the network.
