+1 you don't have to get OEM battery just something that is similar AGM battery style.

Even though how electronic the car is? I mean it makes sense that one thing like this could cause these big problems

like everyone else said.. prob battery related.. i have an 07 550i, was gettin transmission faults, car not starting here and there.. charged battery up with a trickle charger and haven't had a problem since (3k-4k miles so far!)

What I meant was that not using an AGM battery doesn't sound like the problem (to me) BUT I do think it's a battery related issue. And it's easy enough to test.. put in an AGM battery from auto zone or wherever and see what happens

As long as the battery is reading at least 12.3V before starting, and the system voltage is reading in the neighborhood of 14.2V after starting the fact that it is not an AGM doesn't matter in the least for operation.

You will probably see short battery life however, as the charging scenario is different.

Thanks guys. I just decided to bite the bullet on this one and have it diagnosed by Niello near my house. Id prefer to get this problem pin pointed asap cause my baby has been sitting in the drive-way for going on 2 weeks now
