I am surprised they are still in that much demand, our local dealer has them on the lot, I test drove one on Tuesday (112 miles on it). I will have a tough time not getting one when it comes time to replace my car.

I went to the dealer with the intent to purchase an M5. Two year waitlist and if I want it sooner I can "BID" for a spot. Demand is soo high that dealers are marking up sticker 5-8%. I drove the 550i SMG and loved it. I am just having a hard time shaking the power bug. Don't get me wrong the 550i has a great engine!!
If you shop around, you can find some new M5s available at sticker.

My friend just walked into his dealer and got one at MSRP a few weeks ago because someone on the waitlist backed out.

It's a rare market location now that has any markup or even long wait for M5s. Not so yet for M6.

Hey ACEE, weclome to the Forum and to the 550 club. You will love this car. Spend some time with your new baby before you make any changes to it. Frankly, it's got more than enough power to do just about anything you want. I still scare myself with this car.

I would guess that over the next 2 years we could add some Dinan stuff (CAI, throttle body, ECU remap), plus a high performance exhaust, add some lighter-weight wheels and tires, and you may get closer to 400hp-like performance.

Otherwise, find an M5 by May 19.

Thanks! I just love this forum. Accurate information and good guys. It is helping me get through the long and painfull wait. I think I will hold off on further modifications outside the M-Aero and the new IPOD interface. Maybe the new lighter wheels.... hmmm... i could rationalize that it would save on gas

Thinking about mods, I guess is my way of dealing with the long wait!!
