Hi everyone. I am a new 550i owner expecting to take delivery at the performance center on May 19th 2006. I am interested in supercharging or adding turbo to my baby. I just want something above 400HP. Has anyone done this? Can anyone suggest makes or models of super chargers or turbo? Finally can anyone recommend a good shop in Bolingbrook, Naperville or Chicago IL? Any assistance would be appreciated.

My Ride: 2010 M5 alpine white, black full leather, etc.
Maybe you should have bought an M5 to begin with instead of thinking of screwing up your beautiful new vehicle. Just a thought.

Yep, for the supercharger $$ you would have fit right into an M5 plus had all the M5 goodies, better tranny, better HUD, better suspension, .......

REALLY? why? Have you seen the S/C 540s? THose are impressive... or Get a M5 instead...

I went to the dealer with the intent to purchase an M5. Two year waitlist and if I want it sooner I can "BID" for a spot. Demand is soo high that dealers are marking up sticker 5-8%. I drove the 550i SMG and loved it. I am just having a hard time shaking the power bug. Don't get me wrong the 550i has a great engine!!

This might be after the fact, but Motorwerks in South Barrington has a slightly used (2900 miles) black/black M5 for sale. The car also has HUD.

Perhaps that's just European M5's.
Ps. Rather than go to the expense of that degree of modifying, i also would opt for an M5. You'd no doubt blow your 550i warranty out of the window & could end up with sooooo many problems.

Agreed, I wouldn't want to do anything to an already perfected engine unless you are doing a motor swap.
