My Ride: 550i
Hi there
I am just replacing a set of Goodyear Eagle NCT5 on my 550i and wanted to find what other forum members reckon to the choices available.
I have looked into Bridgestone Potenza and conti's the car runs on 18" W124 wheels 245/40/R18 front and rear.
The recent snow in the UK has made me realise how hopeless the Goodyear runflats are in the wet / icy conditions.
Any help greatfully received...

Ditch the RFTs. RFTs are great in concept and horrid in execution. Maybe one day they will perfect the technology but, to me, that day has not arrived yet.
I'd get dedicated snows for the winter or if snow if a very rare event, I'd get all seasons. And max summer performance tires for the warm months.

Thanks sdg1871
I'd prefer to keep RFT's as travel into Europe a fair bit and have had a full blowout at 85mph before and it was scary (very). The kids are often on long trips with me too.
Is there a general consensus amongst members as the best RFT's to fit?

I use a dedicated winter set also, Have the Dunlop winter RFT's (Sp Winter Sport 3d) on a spare set of 135 wheels 245 - 18
For my summer setup I use Michelin RFT PS 2 (hard to find) 275-18 245-18 on 166 wheels
I love this setup, very smooth in the summer and double protected and safe in the winter

My Ride: 2006 525XI, Jet black on Dakota beige. Premium and winter packages. I consider myself a purist and intend to keep my car absolutely stock and shiny.
2008 328I Convertible, Sapphire black on beige interior. Premium package, NAV, iPod adapter.
Retired: 2002 325I, Titanium silver on black leather. Premium package. Absolutely stock and proud of it.
One blow out does not mean that you will always experience blow outs. Besides, RFTs can blow out too.
