My Ride: Performance Center Delivery May 19, 2006: 2007 BMW 550i, Black Saphire, Beige Interior with Poplar Wood, Sport Package, Cold Weather Package, Comfort Access, Navigation, Power Shades, SMG, M Aero Package, Rear Heating,
Talking

Hi everyone. I am a new 550i owner expecting to take delivery at the performance center on May 19th 2006. I am interested in changing my interior color scheme a little bit. I would like to have some of the plastic trim covered in black leather. My stock interior is beige with poplar wood. My goal is to have contrasting black and beige color scheme kind of similar to the M5 interior contrasting colors. Has anyone done something similar? Can someone recommend a shop in Bolingbrook, Naperville or Chicago IL? Thanks in advance.

I would imagine most of the American and European owners on this board would be too conservative to do a custom interior.

Check out our Japanese counterparts at http://bmw5.net/.
They have all the crazy mods over there!

Must say, that some parts on the int/dec needs some extra leather.

You must have seen the BMW Individual scene, and if not, look into it,
but i.e. the dashes middlepart with the AC/CD/Nav needs leather.

My seats are custom made black Nappa with white stitching.
The car will go back to the artist this spring for some leather adds and contioning.

Any ideas?

Sadly, BMW Individual is almost impossible to get on a 5 Series in the US.

Good call - I find that the beige interior is too much beige.

Black floor mats help. But I was also thinking of replacing some interior parts with black leather parts, like the center arm rest and door arm rests. Sort of following the scheme shown here.

I have heard so and I do not have a clue why the vast US markets don't get all the goodies!?
Maybe the US "general" lawyer laws in practice makes it impossible;
"Make it simple and no one will sue you" or "give them what they want (a fast V8) and
they will be happy".

Fact for me is, that I wouldn't order factory extras myself because everything
what has to do with a new car is tax in this country by 100%.

This means if you order leather seats from the factory they cost the double!

But here's my intrest in my slow, but nice car, a designer (maybe) like ACEE.

A nice, stylish, functional interior with good stereos and improved road sound insulation.

The E60 itselves is a great car!

I am not interested in looking ricey. Just some conservative color contrasts. Nothing wild but thanks for the link.
