This is a pointless measurement though, it doesn't represent real life. As a daily driver, in stop-go traffic or with lots of traffic lights, don't expect much more than 20mpg (and 18mpg if you floor it all the time like some of us enjoy doing ). A 528i or 530i in any kind of test you like will always outperform a 535i, 545i or 550i. If they wouldn't, then nobody would buy one.
+1. My lifetime MPG in my 2009 550i M Sport over about 55,000 miles was about 16.5-17.

On a used market the cost of 528i, 538i or 550i is close enough not to worry about the price difference. 550i with M sport aero package on 172 wheels look very attractive and I personally don't like the look of standard package. Now looking from a daily commute perspective, tires for 172 wheels cost a lot and don't last long. I was shocked to read about the mileage people get with 172 rims. 535i is probably the best in terms of power vs fuel economy ratio whereas 528i is a true commute car.
Most 550i come with sports package and look fantastic. How much does it cost to install clear bra? Does it look ok? I worry about the chips and rocks given it's going to be a commute car. She mostly drives freeway with mild traffic.
I never see 535i or 528i with M sport package for sale. Only those that were in accident. I found one 528i after accident with the sports package on 172 wheels. I don't know if I should even consider car with salvage title but it's very low mileage.
How is turbo on 535i? Is it reliable?

Please help me out to make the right decision.
Get the 550. Is is fantastic daily driver -- fast and smooth. I still miss mine. And with the M Sport package with the Style 172 wheels, it is quite a looker. And none of the HPFP problems of the E60 535.
